There is plenty about the Cinco de Mayo Holiday that YHC was unaware of. So when trying to come up with a Q for this morning’s beatdown, YHC made sure that he was well informed about the day what it means and how it has evolved into what it is today. Research was done, the Weinke was written and we were ready to bring La Paliza de Cinco de Mayo (The Cinco de Mayo Beatdown) to the #HIM of Surge.

The Thang
In the spirit of today’s holiday (5-5-22) YHC came up with a four corners-esqe beating with the reps 5-5-22 and after completing the first round of 4 stations, we would test our Cinco de Mayo Trivia Skills. If a PAX got the question correct, they got to eliminate one of the four stations.
Station 1:
5-Blockees; 5-Block Swings; 22 Curls
Station 2:
5-Carolina Dry Docks; 5-Bonnie Blairs (2ct); 22-BBSU/Flutter Kicks (2ct)
****Stations 2 and 4 have two different core exercises….we would alternate each time through the stations between the two….for example the first time through the stations we would do BBSU, the next time we got to the same stations we would do the flutter kicks****
Station 3:
5-Thrusters; 5-Merkins; 22-Chest Press
Station 4:
5-Jump Squats; 5-OH Press; 22-Freddie Mercs (2ct)/Iron Crosses
Each PAX did the first round of all 4 stations and we had our first trivia question…
–What is the official dish of Cinco de Mayo? MOLE POBLANO. No Pax answered correctly so we went around another round.
At the end of the second round we had our second trivia question….
–Under which U.S. President’s policy was Cinco de Mayo brought to the United States? FDR. 4 of 5 got it wrong but Big Papi answered correctly. Actually he had said “Roosevelt” but at first we were so excited someone got one right YHC forgot to ask which one….but eventually Big Papi clarified.
Big Papi eliminated the first station for the 3rd Round so we started round three on Station 2. Once we finished with the 4th station it was time for another trivia question….
–Which City is known to have the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration? LOS ANGELES. No Pax answered correctly so we went around another round.
At the end of the fourth round we had our final trivia session….it was a double or nothing…if the PAX answered correctly the first question, they then got a second question….if that was correct we return the blocks if not we do another round of stations
PART ONE
–Under which President did Cinco de Mayo become a National Holiday? GEORGE W. BUSH Black Betty answered correctly. He had said “Bush” but again we were so excited it was correct YHC forgot to ask which one….but eventually it was clarified.
PART TWO
–TRUE OR FALSE? Is Cinco de Mayo the Mexican Independence Day? FALSE. Black Betty led the charge but a collective FALSE was echoed across the PAX. We briefly celebrated and returned the blocks.
