Let’s play some football!

10 Pax showed up at Depot for a mini-convergence on a cold morning where the day is more about football in the state than anything else.  At 12:00 all eyes in the state will be turned to “that other school in the upstate”  where bragging rights will be on the line.  Little did the Pax know that bragging rights would also be on the line at F3 this morning.

Conditions: Clear, 30 degrees and frozen

The Thang:

Disclaimer (not sure it worked completely, right Stagecoach?)

Circle up in the parking lot:

  • SSH x 15 (IC)
  • Through the Tunnel x 10 (IC)
  • IW x 15 (IC)
  • Little arm circles x 10 forward and back (IC)

Head to the bottom of the hill at the entrance to the park:

  • At the bottom of the hill – 6 burpees
  • At the top of the hill – 15 LBC’s
  • AMRAP for 6 minutes

Head to the brickpile, grab 2 bricks and head to the upper soccer field:

Split into 2 groups which would be the teams for the rest of the morning. Gather in the center of the soccer field.  From there, the Pax went to each station below (rotating around the outside of the soccer field), coming back to the center to do 30 shoulder presses with the brick between each station:

  1. Corner 1 – 50 Merkins each
  2. Corner 2 – 50 Curls each
  3. Midfield – 50 Russian Twists each
  4. Corner 3 – 50 Decline Merkins each
  5. Corner 4 – 50 Squats each
  6. Midfield – 50 Iron Crosses each

Each team moved together between stations and worked to encourage the others along the way.  Great work by all of the Pax completing this circuit.

Return bricks to the brickpile and return to the upper soccer field for football fun.  However, before getting started, the burpee train rolled through and delayed us the beatdown that was about to ensue.

At this point, we stayed with our teams for some backyard football:

  • 2 Hand touch
  • 4 downs to score on a 50 yard field
  • 5 Mississippi Rush on the QB
  • QB can only run when rushed

From early on, this was one-sided and Team 1 dominated 42-14.  There were multiple game balls that would be given out if we did such a thing.  Magoo, JD, and Uncle Rico all had multiple touchdowns throwing, catching, or pick-6.  As JD threw his 2nd touchdown of the morning, everyone noted that West Virginia just scored again.  Good thing for our Clemson brothers that they had fartsacked or headed to Clemson this morning because seeing that might have induced merlot.

During the game, there was one injury of note.  Stagecoach tweaked his calf, but was able to stay in the game and compete.  However, based on the way he was limping around, we probably should have brought the cart out and taken him back to the locker room for further evaluation.  Get well soon brother!

One other point of note from the game was after Magoo scored his 3rd TD of the morning, in true Magoo fashion, he gave a TD celebration that would make Ickey Woods envious.  It looked a little something like this:

The losing team had to do 100 flutter kicks while the winning team only had to do 50 (this is F3, everyone has to do some ab work).

Mosey back to the shovel flag for COT.

Great work by all of the men this morning.  As we typically only compete against ourselves out there, it was fun to have a little friendly competition this morning.  Great job by those members of Team 1 (Magoo, JD, Uncle Rico, Selfie, Shakespeare) for the total domination this morning.
