#theherd Inaugural National Police Officers Memorial Day Run/Walk/ Ruck

The men of @F3Stampede #theherd are inviting all pax to the inaugural Police Officers Memorial Day run/walk/ruck on 05/15/2023. This event is to pay tribute and honor to those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest to serve and protect the communities they served.

President John F. Kennedy signed a bill into law in October 1963 establishing “Police Officers Memorial Day.” This day, since then, has historically taken place on May 15. The week in which 15 falls is commonly known as “National Police Officers Week.” Officers, survivors, family members, come from all over the US to Washington, DC to participate in a variety of events, vigils and ceremonies to give honor and support for our nations law enforcement officers.

This event starts at 0500 for walkers and ruckers. 0530 for runners. COT will be at 0615. Participants will proceed on a route which takes you from the Parkland Plaza parking lot to Alexander. Turn left and proceed to Gervais. Turn right and proceed up Gervais to the SC Capital. The SC Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is located on South side of the grounds nearest Assembly St. Go to the memorial, pause for a moment of silence and reflection. Return to Parkland Plaza for COT.

Participants are encouraged to run/walk/ruck in honor of a law enforcement officer who has died in the line of duty. This can be a family member, friend, or co-worker. At COT we will do the normal routine and then recite the name of the officer, the department he or she was with and the date they made the ultimate sacrifice.

#theherd would be honored if some of you will join us for this inaugural event.
