The PAX should’ve known better when our Q, Cornstache, showed up to give us our route and then wished us well, scooting home to nurse a bum knee in the warmth and comfort of his home. While our Q browsed the shelves of Walgreens, looking for milk and Twinkies, the PAX donned kevlar vests and slogged up Tree Steet, heads on swivels. Yet the odd dynamics of Columbia residential zoning meant we were soon among the stately homes of Forest Hills, making our way to Forest Drive, and then Clemson Road. At Winthrop Avenue, the PAX split up, with half making its way back to the AO and the other half trotting around Lake Katherine. A jump over to Whole Foods and then up into Shandon by way of Sherwood Forest put us on the homestretch of this eleven mile march. A U-turn at King Street and back to the AO by way of Devine Street, the PAX reunited, with a couple of victory laps around the parking lot of Dreher High School.
