Welcome Week, in his tweet about this morning’s #Ramble, made reference to all the big events on the downhill side of summer and the most recent chatter about the Table Rock 50K. So, taking that as something of a challenge, YHC, who was planning to hit #TheBull until being reminded of the Q at #Ramble, tried to kill two birds with one stone. In truth, a few more than two endured the massacre that was this morning’s route downtown.
Conditions: Mid 50’s a dry
TheThang:
Heading south out of the parking lot on Woodrow, turn right onto Wheat and dial it up to the standard 7:00 #Ramble pace. Zigzag at Harden to stay on Wheat and bottom out the route at Pickens before heading toward the Blatt. Here’s where it got ugly… Turn right in front of the Blatt and take the stairs up to Blossom Street and then continue up the steps to the Blossom Street overpass to cross over and then continue up through the USC campus to Greene Street just in front of the Russell House. Take Greene to the right to Bull Street and then turn right, drop down to Blossom and then reverse course back up Bull Street back to Blossom. Turn right and keep going down Greene to Pickens, turn toward Blossom and go down and back up again. Then repeat the process on Henderson running all the way to Blossom and then turning around and coming back up Henderson. And, last but not least, take Barnwell Street down to Blossom and back up to Greene. That’s five trips up the Greene Street ridge at pace. From there, take Greene to five points, Harden to Devine and climb back out of the hole one last time back to the AO on the corner of Devine and Woodrow. All in, it was 4.2 miles with 444 ft of elevation gain but the stats don’t adequately express the suck involved.
COT & BOM
NMM:
I’m afraid we broke the 50K as slots are now sold out. If you still want to do it (or are just too overcome with the FOMO), stick your name on the waiting list and if it’s meant to be, they’ll get you a spot.
Talk of the Ragnar broke out which may be a great opportunity for us. 4 man ultra and 8 man standard teams… and dang could #Ramble put together a fast 8 man team. The official F3 Preblast is here: http://f3nation.com/2017/03/23/ragnar-trail-relay-preblast/. Web site is: https://www.runragnar.com/event-detail/trail/carolinas_sc
The @F3MudRun is May 20th but the registration for the F3 pax ends May 1st. Register. Biggie Smalls is our local Q and can help you get on a team. It would be a shame if the speed of #Ramble isn’t well represented.
#TheMission convergence is on April 29th, the F3Columbia regional convergence is on May 13th as is the Get in the Pink 5K and 10K.
