Eleven pax arrived at KBC secure in the knowledge that Wednesdays were “easy” run days. After a few weeks of grousing, however, about the repeated loops around Lake Katherine, the choice to expand our #Amble borders was made for a new kind of “easy.” The pace was conversational but the route belied the notion that this was just another 4 mile loop.
Conditions: 75 degrees, 90% humidity
The Thang:
Brand new four mile, four neighborhood loop west of KBC:
From the Kathwood Baptist parking lot, the course begins by crossing Trenholm and zigzagging up Chicora and Wofford to Converse heading towards Crayton Middle School. Rather than diverting, however, runners continued down, up and then down again west on Converse, taking a right turn onto East Buchanan Drive. Crossing Beltline on Buchanan, the next turn is a left up the first of two Belmont Hills crossing Trenholm Road at the valley between. Reaching Kilbourne, the pax turned left and headed for home crossing Beltline again and jogging down to Sanford where the course becomes familiar. Sanford to Kathwood to a left on Woodlake and back to the KBC parking lot by turning right on Carter Hill. A simple 4 mile loop but with some nasty hills packing the first two miles.
COT & BOM: Closed out by Fountainhead
Moleskin:
-With hills becoming more and more a norm for #Amble, more routes west of KBC can be expected with a possible DHS visit once bootcamps get started there on Monday’s and Wednesday’s. Look for future announcements about that upcoming launch.
-Lunch today at the Beltline Lizards Thicket, noonish. #April
-Order deadline for the F3 Columbia shirt is this weekend. If you have any interest in F3 gear, get a shirt ordered. This is likely the last chance to get one in time for the mud run. Click the F3 Gear link and order our custom regional shirt.
-In spite of yesterday’s fartsacking by the WIS crew, they’ve been given another chance tomorrow for take 2. #Convergence on Thursday July 11th at DHS, 5:45, tell your friends. Be there for the big show. Pending approval and further notification, this Saturday’s convergence will be at Crayton Middle School for some #SwampFox style pain and Saturday, July 20th will be downtown at the statehouse. Follow @F3Columbia for details.
