RAGE AGAINST THE DYING OF THE LIGHT

It has been nearly 8 weeks since F3 Camden launched and the PAX is getting stronger. 15 dedicated men arrived at the Rectory anticipating a block-a-rama from their scheduled Q, Couch Potato, but were disappointed, (or perhaps delighted), to learn that the Couch Potato contracted eye boogers (aka pink eye) and was unable to fulfill his Q. Prepared for the inevitability of a fallen comrade, YHC arrived on this frosty Saturday morning with his trusty laminated back up plan in his pocket.

The Deal
After Central Park COP, PAX retrieves coupons for 1 set Squat Raises X 15 IC, Overhead Press X 15 IC, Bent Over Rows X 15 IC. Q then leads PAX off campus with frozen coupons in hand for a moderately long mosey to CES (Camden Elementary School). At the midway point to CES, PAX stops for a brief set led by Snookie to include LBACs with coupons X 15 IC, Diamond Merkins X 10 IC, and Russian Twist X 15 IC. Continue mosey to CES.
Arriving at CES, Q instructs the PAX to lay down their coupons and find a partner. Mumble Chatter ensues as the PAX anticipates that they will need to climb the fence to enter CES…..frozen fingers from the coupons increases mumble chatter. To the Pax’s delight, YHC discovers that the gate lock is for dummies and removes said lock for easy entry.YHC introduces the PAX to pull up bars, aka “hang there bars” for many PAX members. Q gives PAX instructions on a variation of the Colonel Trautman……P1 does 3 pull-ups while P2 does 5 merkins….alternate until 4 reps of each are performed. Grumble Chatter reaches max volume midway through set 1 as many PAX members realize they haven’t done a pull-up since 6th grade PE. Q then leads PAX to the swing set……P1 performs 1o merkins with feet in the saddle while P2 performs squats….alternate until 4 reps are complete. The rinse and repeat Colonel Trautman.PAX then retrieves bricks for return mosey to Rectory.Big Load leads PAX at the midway point for Monkey Humpers X 10 IC, Plank Jacks X 10 IC, and Overhead Claps X 10 IC. Continue mosey to Rectory.Upon returning to Campus, PAX holds plank until 6 arrives. YHC then leads PAX in a set of E2K (oblique crunches). YHC then calls upon Timber to lead PAX for 10 minutes.
Timber leads the following:
Overhead Tricep Extensions, standing X 10 IC
Chest Fly with Bricks X 15 IC
Overhead Tricep Extenstions, on back X 15 IC
Low Plank Leg Lifts X 10 IC
High Plank Punches X 10 IC
Superman Plank lift & hold X 5 IC
High Plank Shoulder Taps X 15 ICPAX returns Coupons to their secret bushy hiding place.Timber then leads PAX for its first Circle Burp. In a circle, PAX passes cinder block for 5 rounds while each PAX member does 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 = 30 total burpees.Sensing a revolt, Timber relinquishes command back to YHC.YHC leads PAX back to Central Park for LBAC X 15 IC, Reverse LBAC X 15 IC, Raise the Roof X 15 IC, and 10 Merkins OYO.YHC then calls on Harper Valley for next routine. HV encourages PAX to finish strong as he calls out a rotation of Bear Crawls from light pole to tree…..10 merkins at tree, return bear crawl to light pole for 9 big boy sit-ups. Return to tree and light pole until exercises are complete in descending order.
Upon completion of routine, HV taps out and returns command to YHC.
Mumble Chatter about “what time is it?” heard throughout as YHC instructs PAX to circle up around the fountain for the final few minutes.Feeling inspired by a verse he read earlier in the week, YHC shares some poetry as the PAX performs step-ups on the fountain. The particular verse struck a chord with YHC as it correlates to his experience with F3 and this predominantly geriatric group. Although he could not remember the author’s name (thanks to Shake It Off for researching later that it was Dylan Thomas), YHC remembered the verse as he flawlessly delivered the lines……”Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”YHC explains that this particular line symbolizes that he will not go gently into that good night and that F3 helps him rage against the dying of the light. As the PAX ponders what just happened, YHC instructs the PAX to mosey to the flag for COT, Counteramma, and BOM.Announcements
Run Group continues to meet Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at 5:30 a.m.
Clinic Classic 5K will be April 29th. Preliminary plans for Team F3 begin.
YHC commends participating Q’s thus far and ask each member to take pride in their routine when called upon.
