Battle of Pine Street Hill

When I moved to Camden four years ago, I had two main thoughts come to mind: this city is going to be full of a lot of old people (mostly right) and there is a lot of history to explore in my new home. I heard all about Historic Camden, Joseph Kershaw & King Haigler, the oldest Inland town in South Carolina, etc., etc. We even did a little history tour of this fair city with another couple and the guide pointed out Mary Boykin Chesnut’s home to which one of the lady’s on the tour (and wife of a fellow PAX) commented, “Oh, I haven’t met her yet—should we knock?” I wish I could have made that up.My greater point is that while we have all heard of the Battle of Camden and Battle of Hobkirk Hill and most of us know about Mary Boykin Chesnut, few have heard of the just as infamous, Battle of Pine Street Hill. While the locals lost the two aforementioned battles, 18 PAX were not prepared to let history repeat itself. On a crisp (32 degrees), yet clear morning, the PAX refused to let the Brits or the Police defeat them!Led by Hope Solo (who had not faced a challenge quite like this since, well, you know this: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/soccer/2015/06/07/hope-solo-controversy-police-report/28645755/ or even this: http://thecount.com/2015/01/21/hope-solo-suspended-us-soccer-team/ ), there were big shoes to fill after Cornwallis shattered the training wheels for F3 Camden the previous workout. Figuring his fellow PAX might be a little tight after Tuesday evening, we began with some Dynamic Stretching.Warm A Rama

With his upper body still sore from the Circle Merk, the YHC led the PAX on some cardio fun mixed in with some ab work to get everyone in shape for Spring Break in Key West.
1. Indian Run with Calls from agility calls from the Q.
2. Battle of Pine Street Hill—Partnered Up with Sprints up the hill for 3 rounds while partner completed sets of Russian Twists, Flutter Kicks, and the Alphabet. After 3 rounds, the PAX sprinted up the hill backwards defying potholes, cars, and the British.
3. Indian Run back to Rectory Square with Sprints from the Front.
4. Circle Up for 2 Rounds of Princess Tea Party consisting of 15 Pattycake Merkins and 30 seconds of the People’s Chair.
5. Mosey over to Rectory Fountain for 2 Rounds of step-ups and dips OYO.
6. Circled back-up in the park for Alternating Planks.
7. We finished with that saucy minx we call Roxanne. 3 full minutes of pure love and hate for The Police’s finest. At first, it was easy for the PAX as it was just a steady pace of SSH, but when the flurry of the chorus kicked in, bodies were flopping and cries in agony persisted as the PAX tried to execute burpees to Sting’s voice. We then moseyed back to the flag for COT, Counteramma, and BOM. No announcements, but there was a prayer request for the Burch family.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead and be a part of this great group of Men.
