Worry Free at The Arena

Has it really been a year? YHC got to the Q-sheet last month before anyone else could snag this day as it is my 1-year anniversary and I wanted the Q rather than having Voltron assign some random day to me.  It was indeed one year ago that I showed up at The Arena with no gloves (rookie maneuver) after Ranger EH’d me for far too long.  Today, 13 HIM stepped inside The Arena for their DRP to “celebrate” with YHC, and walked out suffering from a mild case of Swoleeosis and a large case of betterment.  Mumblechatter was at peak form with the PAX doing a good job of mixing sarcasm with questioning, complaining, and clock-watching while simultaneously working hard.

Conditions: 62 and Clear….couldn’t be much better.

Warmup:

Walk in Place x10 IC

SSH x 10 IC  This was done in “silent cadence” to see if the PAX could count to 10 on their own.  All must stop together after the silent “1-2-3-10.”  Numerous PAX did not stop, so we did 10 Burpees in hopes that we learn to count. (I was going to go to 1-2-3-21;  glad I didn’t.)

Thru The Tunnel x 10 IC

Good Mornings x 10 IC (Crowd Favorite)

Mosey to brick pile, then to the back of the school. The workout would be Pyramid style with two rounds.  Each round consisted of 7 sets of 2 exercises, each exercise designed to “complement” the other.  Round 1 exercises would alternate – reps of each exercise “pyramid up” to 7.  Round 2 exercises would alternate – reps of the first exercise “pyramid up” to 7 and the second exercise being 1 rep only.  Sounds confusing.  It wasn’t. Follow along and have fun.

Round 1: Pyramid up to 7 reps each exercise

  1. Dead Lift w/Bricks and Upright Rows w/Bricks
  2. Hammer Curls w/Bricks and Triceps Extensions w/Bricks
  3. Overhead Press w/Bricks and Up-Downs w/Bricks
  4. Flutter Kicks IC and Heels to Heaven
  5. Backwards Plank and Crunchy Frog
  6. Hand Release Merkin and Pike-Ups
  7. Shoulder Taps IC and Knee Touches

Round 2: Pyramid up to 7 reps first exercise, 1 rep second exercise

  1. Curls for Girls w/Bricks and Burpee w/Bricks
  2. Knee to Elbow and Down Dog
  3. Wide Arm Merkin w/Bricks and Superman
  4. LBC and Iron Cross
  5. Merkin w/Bricks and Child’s Pose
  6. Plank Punches IC and Spider Jumps   Skipped due to time constraints
  7. On Your Back Toe Touch and Stargazer

Mosey to put bricks up and then to front of school.

Devotional:  Why worry?

Philippians 4: 4-7

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say Rejoice.

5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.

6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God.

7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We all have things in our lives that occupy our minds. What is going on in your life? What are you worried about? Are you praying about it?

Re-read verse 6….worry about nothing….pray about everything.

If you are going to worry about something, then why are you praying?

If you are going to pray about something, then why are you worried?

Moleskin:

What do the following PAX have in common? Floppy Disk, Spackle, House, Fast Casual, Quest, Ranger, Baby Heart, Mash, Recall, Pew, and Mac.  They were the PAX at my first post, 1 year ago….time flies, men, thanks for a great year!

The lights were on at the school “first thing” instead of the normal 5:55 am.  Even though I knew I had not, YHC experience that split-second of sheer terror wondering if I had somehow fartsacked my Q when I came around the corner and saw them on.

There seemed to be an unusual fascination from the PAX that my Weinke was laminated.  In the Army, maps, graphics, checklists, etc. were always laminated because it was always raining.  I guess old (Army) habits die hard!
