This morning we all wish never happened

I’m writing this backblast because that’s what we do, right?  Across the nation we get up early, workout, have a lot of fun, and the Qs (albeit every so often begrudgingly) write up backblasts.  Sometimes we have to squeeze the backblast in at work, sometimes we just feel lazy, sometimes we’re just forgetful.  Well this is one backblast that I would rather not write, or at least write differently.  You know… the way it was suppose to be written… where we have a good time… where we all get better… and share stories at the end.

This one is different.  This is one that I would rather not write.  But I owe it to the guys who posted, the guys who didn’t post, F3 and FiA, and most importantly Digits.

Conditions:  mid/high 30s.

3 for ~2 mile RL pre-game, 1 minute warning, no FNGs, disclaimer, prayer

Mosey to the blockpile, grab a block, put it on the practice field goal line, head to midfield.  At midfield, the PAX noticed the pvc pipes I sometimes carry around.  More to come on that.  Warm up with:

  • 15x SSHs
  • 15x TTTs
  • 15x IWs

With that we mixed in a game of “10 bottles of beer on the wall” with a block medley:

  • 10 bottles of beer: The PAX line up side-by-side, plank, relay merkin 10 pieces of PVC down the line where you grab a piece of pvc with your left hand, merkin, roll it to you right hand, merkin, pass it to the guy on the right, get another from your left.  Rinse and repeat until all pieces were passed down.
  • Mosey to your block.  First block exercise is 10x Block Jump Burpees where you jump left and right over your block.  When finished overhead carry your block forward to 10 yards.
  • Mosey back to midfield.  9 bottles of beer (with the pvc going back the other way).
  • Mosey back to your block…

This is where the morning was no longer about the workout, no longer about us – this is where the backblast stops.

This is where we want to hug our kids, hold our family.  This where we’re thankful to have each other for support.  This is where we grieve for Dianne Wells, her family, her friends, and many other people that will be impacted by this morning we all wish never happened.

Heavenly Father we know and believe that our times are in Your hands, but Lord it’s so often such a shock to us when a dear loved one meets with a sudden or unexpected death – through an accident or perhaps due to some unforeseen tragedy, which takes the life of someone they loved – long before it would be expected.

Lord, we bring before You today those who are having to go through such a tragic loss and pray that You would be very close to each one that is in mourning today over such a loss – and are perhaps confused or even angry that such a devastating occurrence has overtaken them – without any apparent warning.

You are the God of all comfort Who comforts us in time of need and we pray that for those that are facing such a difficult trial today. Uphold them we pray, and ask that You draw very close to them … raise up we pray, the right people to minister to them and to be a genuine comfort and support at this time of tragedy and grief.

Lord, we don’t understand why our loved ones should suddenly be removed from us through a sudden, unexpected death – but Lord we trust You to soothe away the hurt in time – for shall not the God of all the earth do right…. In Jesus name, we pray,

Amen.
