There’s ALWAYS hope! (2.0)

Turning Point has always been my F3 home, so it’s always great to be back there. It was good to see many familiar faces and hear some familiar voices attempt to mumblechatter me off my game. The only thing that truly threw me off was the spotty cell reception that briefly interrupted part of my planned workout.

The reason I needed cell reception was to create a mobile hotspot from which I could access the internet in order to stream the NFL Game Pass shortcut version of Sunday Night’s Packers vs. Bears game on my laptop. The entire game was shown in only 41 minutes – just enough time to give us some background noise as we worked out as well as something to watch as we help plank position and waited for the six at various times throughout the workout.

The content of the workout was also inspired by the Green Bay Packers thrilling come-from-behind victory from Sunday night. Rep counts of 12, 3, 17 and 18 were in honor of the Packers responsible for putting points on the board – Aaron Rodgers, Mason Crosby, Devante Adams and Randall Cobb respectively (#81 Geronimo Allison was mercifully left off the list). Reps of 24 and 23 represented the score (Packers 24 Bears 23).

For those looking for more details, here’s how things went down…

DEVO

There’s ALWAYS hope…

I recently attended the funeral of a friend’s older brother who had committed suicide at age 29. At the funeral, his friends and family spoke of him as the best looking, funniest, most musically AND athletically talented guy in the room. He seemed to have it all, yet there was a darkness in him that ate at his soul and eventually convinced him that he was without hope.

As I’ve stood in hundreds of Circles of Trust over the past three-plus years, I’ve looked around at men who I have admired, respected, placed on a pedestals and even been jealous of more than once. In my most honest moments, I’ve thrown pity parties and wondered why my life is so hard when (insert PAX name here) has it all “figured out” or has everything so easy. I confessed that I have no right to do this and wouldn’t ever want to deceive anyone into thinking I’ve got it all “under control.”

Truth is, any one in any Circle of Trust could be a snap decision away from making the same choice my friend’s brother did. We are all susceptible to believing the lie that we have no hope in this world. But my brothers, THIS IS TRULY A LIE. We HAVE a hope, and it’s found in the name of JESUS. I challenged myself and the PAX of Turning Point to reach out to one another – either when we are feeling hopeless or when we suspect a brother may be going through a hard time. We exist (in part) to build one another up – physically, spiritually and emotionally as well.

We don’t have to figure everything out on our own. It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Together, we can defeat the enemy who wants us all to believe that there is no hope. Together, we can remind ourselves and one another that we HAVE a hope – and His name is Jesus.
