As March winds blow in, they bring about a time of celebration and change as today we celebrated our first anniversary as an AO and a changing of the guard as YHC transferred to shovel flag to Moist. The pax from our Mothership, The Hollow joined us today, and we appreciate them coming over for the fun. So here’s what went down:

Once on the track, Moist had 10 glow sticks set up along the straight away. Near the pole vault area, was a deck of cards, a bucket, and a sign explaining the rules of the Deck of Death. Each suit represented an exercise, and the number or face card on the card indicated which glow stick you had to travel to by means of bear crawl, lunge, or run. Immediately, there were hints and allegations of a stacked deck. All YHC remembers doing was running repeatedly to the 10th (and furthest away) glow stick, and doing either squats, merkins, and burpees. Oddly enough, I don’t believe there was ever any denial of a stacked deck.
There was a good bit of running and heavy lifting. Betterment was definitely involved today.

Guys, It’s hard to believe a year has gone by as quickly as it has. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have led this AO. Your support of it, even though it was designed as a non-running AO (we break the rules every now and then) has not gone unnoticed. I appreciate GD, JJ, and Ken-Doll for the endless advice to my questions, and Meatball for always holding me accountable. The guys that stepped out of the Hollow to get this thing going are true #HIM’s. Lastly, I’m at a loss for words on the “Ground-Breaking Shovel”. I can’t thank you all enough. See you all in the gloom!
