A flippin’ good time

As an AOQ, it’s a great feeling to see the Q sheet filled up with a bunch of different guys ready to step up and lead the PAX.  Variety, different leadership styles, and new ideas are what keeps the PAX energized and ready for more.  I’m fortunate at Detention that we have a great mixture of folks signing up to lead these men every week.  This week, when I saw that the Q sheet was still empty for Thursday, I volunteered to take it and as soon as I signed up, an idea popped in my head. The newer PAX have visited the block pile many times, but have probably never looked a bit deeper in the woods next to it to see the 4 big ol’ tires just sitting there.  It was time to bring those beauties back out into the world.  Here’s how it went down!

The Conditions
About 10 degrees colder than expected. A brisk 35, but still warmer than Anchor was yesterday according to Deebo.

Stridelite
Where all my Strideliters at??? YHC undertook a lonely 3.1 miles under the stars

20 SSHs
20 Windmills
20 TTT
10 Hillbillies
20 Little Baby Arm Circles

The Thang

Mosey to the woods and find the tires that haven’t been moved in months
Shake and roll 2 tires around real good to make sure there aren’t any black weebliows or snakes in them
Get splashed with all the water sloshing around in the tires
Roll the tires over to the track (not much steering on these tires – at one point one was somehow rolling parallel to the track)
Split into 2 groups – one group of 3 and one group of 4

Lap 1
Alternate flipping the tire to the other end of the track and back while the others in your group lunge.
Cool Down
We attempted slow step downs (4 seconds down – 1 second up), but thanks to all the water and dirt on the tires, the executive decision was made to do 25 step ups instead
Lap 2
Alternate farmer carrying the tire to the other end of the track and back while the others in your group duck walk.
Cool Down
Slow incline merkins (4 seconds down – 1 second up) – 10 reps OYO

Run a lap around the track to give the arms a break

Lap 3
Alternate flipping the tire to the other end of the track and back while the others in your group sprint back and forth.
Cool Down
Slow tricep dips (4 seconds down – 1 second up) – 20 reps OYO
Lap 4
Alternate farmer carrying the tire to the other end of the track and back while the others in your group carioca back and forth. This was supposed to be an army crawl, but by this time there was no point in getting any wetter than we already were.
Cool Down
Roll the tires back to the woods

Mosey to the flag

4 Minutes of Mary

Revelation 7:12 – “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”
With Thanksgiving coming up, it’s easy to overlook it or only treat it as a day for eating, football, etc…, but remember it as a day to give thanks to God for the blessings we’ve received and the abilities we’ve been given.
