A BURPEE Beatdown for the Ages?

The men of Turning Point showed up in F3 Lexington-leading numbers once again, ready for whatever YHC could deal out. I had a plan and stuck to it – for better or for worse. When all was said and done, I think we all got better.

Today’s workout could’ve been a burpee beatdown for the ages since every other exercise called was “burpees on your own” and my original idea was to complete one burpee for every point the Packers scored against the Ravens on Sunday. With Aaron Rodgers out nursing a broken collar bone and their backup QB Brett Hundley looking like he’s not quite up to the level to which we Packers fans are accustomed, it was clear this number would likely be low, making the 45-minute workout challenging but somewhat bearable. I wasn’t exactly expecting the Pack to get completely shutout, which not only ruined my day but also could’ve ruined my plans. Undeterred, I stuck to my guns and called for “ZERO burpees on your own” for every other exercise. It started out funny and then got depressing pretty quickly. Luckily, the 23 reps for every other exercise ensured that we all got plenty of work done.

For those who are interested, here’s how it all went down.

DEVO/CLOSING THOUGHTS
Thanksgiving is a time of reflection for just about everybody. Often, this leads to joyous memories and reminders of the many blessings we have in our lives. For others, though, this reflection brings reminders of very real and present pain and/or sorrow from tragic events that hurt all the more during the Holidays. It’s so important that we never forget both the joy of counting our blessings and the healing that we can bring others when we share in their sorrow or allow others to share in ours.

This holiday season, and especially during this Thanksgiving week, may we reflect on the many wonderful highlights of the past year (new babies born, adoptions, new job opportunities and so much more) and celebrate all that we have to be thankful for while remembering that many around us are in need of prayer, encouragement, and support. May we prayerfully consider what the Holy Spirit may lead us to say or do (or not say or do) to help those around us see that the Peace we have in Christ alone is real and powerful – even in the hardest season’s of life.
