We were, like, flipping out

Conditions: Cool and dry

Tha Thang: 9 guys didn’t take the Twitter hints and showed up anyway for what promised to be a repetitive, hard workout. It didn’t disappoint, although admittedly it was not as brutal as I anticipated due to time limitations and having a good number of pax to split the load.

Recently, Frank’s Discount Tire bestowed upon us a gift of two rather large tractor tires, which were deposited at Woodshed. But, they had to make it back to Legion somehow (1.5 miles away). But do Legionnaire’s do things the easy way (truck bed for example)? No, we choose the harder thing. We went and retrieved them by hand. So…

Disclaimer

Mosey 1.5 miles to Woodshed. Various pain stations every 200 meters or so, with a focus on stretching out well in preparation for what was to come.

Buzz through the Woodshed COP. Those are some goofy looking dudes, sheesh! Obtain tires. Instruct on proper lifting form for safety and efficiency.

Start moving them. Teams on the tire flip, teams off the tire do a rotation of 5 burpees, 10 BBSU, and 15 single-leg lunges, then flipflop the pax. Flip tires a long way. Make a lot of noise. At one point, team carry at waist level. At one point, team carry Cusack-style. At one point, try to slide it on the pavement (#fail). Go along Old Woodlands, convincing every car passing by that we were up to no. (“No, nothing suspicious at all Officer!”). Flip some more. Eventually realize we were short on time and just start rolling them (Easier said than done at that size, they tend to have a mind of their own on where they want to go). Arrive at Crabdaddy’s house, stow them (“just like that”), mosey back to the endex. Finito. Great work gentlemen! A job accomplished well. Several new faces who crushed this workout.

Announcements: Pine Island manly party upcoming. Burpee Challenge, not too late to sign up. Maybe other stuff.

Devo: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms”. I Peter 4:10
A tire is made for rolling on a vehicle, not for being flipped end over end. The tire was not using its gift (ie, roundness). Likewise, God has given you certain gifts and talents. How are you using them? Inappropriately, or for yourself? Or are you using them just as He intended, for His glory first manifested typically in service to others? Your talents are a muscle, and for them to grow, they must be used. ” Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful” 1 Cor 4:2.
