The conditions were perfect for an almost-4-mile morning run across and east on Garner’s Ferry Road to the Tunnels.
The Route:
From the flag head west toward Old Woodlands; Turn right on Chambly, Left on Queens Way, and Right on Old Woodlands. At the intersection of Old Woodlands and Garners Ferry, turn right and head east towards the VA. Make your way across the street. After the Sonic, turn right on True Street. At True and Old Davidson, take a sharp right. Make your way through the tunnels – careful not to get hit by cars – and continue on Pennington Road until it ends at Leesburg Road. At Leesburg turn right and continue back over Garners Ferry and down Veterans. While on Leesburg, before you go under the interstate, watch out for the completely missing sidewalk section. Ask JarJar about his experience. Better yet, take a look at the picture of his hand on Strava. Runners beware! Continue down Veterans Road to Rockwood (the planned route had us go down to Walters and Christie but we were short on time). Right on Rockwood and then right on Galway back to the AO.
