The regulars of #Scramble are familiar with the challenge of the AO… namely, there’s nowhere to run without first climbing out of a hole. And no route out of the bottom-land that is Trenholm Plaza is as lengthy as the Forest Drive climb. So we did that.
Conditions: Brisk & windy out of the west… so we did that.
The Thang:
- From Trenholm Plaza, exit onto Forest Drive heading into town and climb the hill until the hill seems to crest.
- Turn Right onto Cherry Laurel Drive which, while fairly flat, continues the upward trend.
- Turn Left onto Verner Street which, if you look at the topo, is nearly the highest point of the entire Columbia area as one can get. 352′ in elevation which is a solid 40′ higher than the statehouse grounds. (For the record, the water tower off of Gladden Street is just a few feet higher… but who’s counting).
- From there, descend to Beltline and turn left back toward Forest.
- Turn left back onto Forest Drive and follow it all the way back to Trenholm Plaza.
3.5 miles all in with just one, long 1.5 mile climb right out of the gate. Oh, and into the wind… both ways.

NMM & Announcements:
- The Daybreak 10 Miler is this weekend. Solid F3 crew getting into that race. 5K option as well.
- The #F3MudRun is coming up. Register for yourself through F3Summerville’s registration page and then get with Biggie Smalls on the team setup. YHC has yet to do so which is dreadfully poor leadership.
- Recognition to Wally for getting in the work. Kotters to McNugget on the running front. Good to see Detour making a #Coffeeteria appearance after a detour of his own back to the casa.
