Gentlemen – as many of you have already seen and heard, SPEEDFORNEED is HERE! If you don’t know what I’m talking about – SPEEDFORNEED is an initiative organized by JRR Tolkien (from the SOB region) and Nash (from Metro), where the men of F3 will attend local races and push physically disabled friends/family/whoever in specially-made racing chairs… actually just read the official preblast here. And then read the inaugural race preblast here and BB here.  And then, if you haven’t already, go and donate to the cause here.

Once you get thru all that, let’s discuss how this pertains to the Midlands Region. YHC has volunteered to serve as Regional Q/Liaison for the SPEEDFORNEED event(s), and we have selected the Go Leo Go 5K for our first race in the Midlands. This event is put on by Leo’s parents which just so happens to be our very own Side Effect!  The event will be Saturday, October 28th, at Saluda Shoals.  It’s not just family friendly, but more a family event that’s…..running friendly.  Here is a link to the event for more info and to sign up.

We are calling on the men of Lake Murray, Lexington and Columbia to be there and share this very special event (Leo’s 4th birthday).  We will need pax to carry flags, push racers, and surround these amazing families on this course.  Please bring your family to run, walk, ruck and cheer (Strollers are welcome).  HC below.  Would you like to hang out by our very own F3 tent and answer questions any passersby may have about F3 and/or SPEEDFORNEED? Again, HC below. Most importantly, we need some heroic pax to push the two SPEEDFORNEED race chairs! We’re open to anyone who wants to push, but we do want to give priority to a PAX who may have a close friend or family member that can serve as the rider.
