NOCO SPEARHEAD Special Ops 002, SPEARHEAD Rangers rescue Rock Orphans

7 SPEARHEAD Rangers reported for an essential mission to rescue starving freezing babies and restore power to their orphanage.

The Mission:

Deliver food and water to Orphanage under enemy fire, We had a 40#, 60# and 120# bag of supplies as wells a bullet proof vest to protect the Nuns running the Orphanage.

Supplies must be transported beneath the incoming fire, work as a team to bear crawl, low crawl or however you can to the drop off point.

Arrive at Orphanage and leave supplies, pick up (Rock) babies and transport them to safety. The route to safety had its bridge washed out so we traversed the pond with our (Rock) Babies keeping them safe and dry.

Transport (Rock) Babies to generator area until we can restore power. To restore power we we used Kinetic Energy of Log PT to get generators restored.

All Log PT was silent count until Team Leader said stop

-Shoulder to Shoulder

-Overhead Log Hold

-Standing Log Crunches

-Log Curls

-Log Squats

Power is restored bridge is repaired. Return (Rock) Babies to the orphanage

Return to home with Supplies

At this point TL was called back stateside and the remaining Rangers celebrated with good livin from Optimus

-Arm Clappers

-Team Lunges

-Plank/Forward Leaning Rest

-Squat Thrusters

-Overhead Squat Hold

-Squats with Ruck between Legs

– Calf Raises

-Clank Clank I’m a Tank

Moses was appointed to close the team out

– SPEARHEAD Fridays will often have a mission theme, I feel having a narrative keeps it fun and mimics what Challenge is like, you will be asked to do silly things just to help you come together as a team to figure out the best way of doing.

-You WILL get wet and the water may be cold, the pond probably needed a depth check ahead of time, my bad. We have been in it twice before but on the other side. Great job working together and just making it happen.

[email protected] said after log PT he found a weakness, that he could run for days but the shoulder log exercises were a real Challenge. In a GORUCK event you will have some exercises that you are one of the strongest guys at and others that will push you to your limit. There a few things you need to keep in mind. 1) If you are strong in an exercise use that time to encourage your teammates who are not, they will return the favor to you 2) You probably will have to face a fear, whether it is getting cold water, lots of PT and you just aren’t good at or whatever, remember it will come to an end and the next card in the deck will probably be a strength 3) Cadre really are your friends a just want best effort, cheating is expected and they will purposefully turn their back to you so you can cheat a few reps, watch them and act accordingly. They will make threats of more PT but in reality you will only get punished for team things not individual.

-Thanks to Optimus and Moses for finishing us out, hope you enjoyed the morning.

  1. Glad to see a bigger crowd, it s always more fun with more guys. From now on make a towel and change of close standard for Fridays, we won’t always get wet but if we do you will be ready.

It was great meeting @Arizona you were all over the sandbag movement

@Professor glad to have you out with us again

@Etch a Sketch and @Perrier your progress is noticeable from a month ago, you are going to be in good shape.

@Moses it’s always good to have you with us, you have a natural calm that radiates

@Optimus well it seems like I see you more than my wife, fun as always. You analogy of the feel of the sandbags makes me think you need a different type of lady.

    1. I’m a little delayed on the comment but the fact that that I’m still thinking about it 3 days later just shows how much I enjoyed the post last week! It’s great to be back at GCC Spearhead and lifting some team weights with you Winnebago. Your creativity with the mission theme really made the time fly by. I’m glad that I’m starting to prep for the Heavy now because weekly log PT is definitely going to make me stronger by March. It’s better to find and address my weaknesses now than stumble upon it during the event…

  2. Winnebago, great Q and great comments. These workouts are so much fun. I enjoy the strength aspect, hope I’ll be in shape in march!

    1. Sketch you are getting stronger every week and the dedication you have shown getting to where you are now will definitely get you ready for the Heavy.

  3. AARP is Jason Baker and Astronomer is Mark Cichonski. Copernicus is Astronomer’s sidekick. I expect they are OK with the scenario. Ask to borrow the Pink Pig for a WOD. It comes with everything you need to simulate weight and shape of gear for an M-60 machine gun crew. Pretty cool. Sounds like this was a great, interesting WOD. Too bad you are all wet!

    1. Thanks Angler, we are handicapped not having amazing veterans amongst us. I try to break up my leads into 3 categories.
      1) Long and agonizing where we will do bear crawls, lunges low crawls for a long distance usually taking 20 minutes ormore where you have to mentally just push through 2) Intense PT with anaerobic mixed in to really fatigue you or
      3) An operations theme with a narrative. With OPS it is usually creating a narrative as an excuse to get wet and do team stuff.

The problem today was the pond was wider than I expected so we went the narrow part which ended up being about 5.5 feet deep, where the wide part is probably 3 ft, with a verrrry muddy bottom so we had to kind of hug the shore line. Oh and it smelled like oil and sewage.

We will have to get the PIG for sure and I’ll have to come down south again.
