NA’s First attempt (officially)

11 Pax posted this morning at 5:30 at the River for a quick betterment session. Pax present were Pale Rider, Nomaha, PeeWee, Smalls, Big Bertha, Newnan, Hot Stuff, Pontiff, Crab Legs, and 2 FNG’s. With the temperature at a warm 37°, the workout began with a quick jog over to “The Pad” for a COP. Went like this:
Moans and groans
15- Merkins IC
30- SSH’s IC
More moans and groans
25- LBC’s IC
25- Imperial Walkers IC
Ah, the quiet of the morning.
Now for a short jog up to the tennis courts for 7 minutes of “Sharapova’s”. I know you’re shaking your head’s. A Sharapova’s would be tennis with no ball and no racket, but a lot of grunting. Smash a forehand, sprint down the baseline for another forehand, sprint to the net for an overhead smash, and back to A. Repeat for 7 minutes.
It was a quiet walk up to “The Playground” where more fun awaited us. Now affectionately known as seven minutes in heaven, we did circuits of 10 bench step ups per leg and 10 pull-ups on the monkey bars for seven minutes. The mumble chatter began to get louder halfway in. No one enjoyed it (at least that’s what I gathered from the comments), but everyone finished with a smile on their face.
Another brisk walk over to what is now dubbed “The Lot”. A Ranger inspired AO (thanks Ranger!) complete with a railing, a Pale Rider sized curb, steps, oh and a hill! The fun began at the top of the hill and goes like this… Descend to the first stop at the bottom of the railing, stopping to do 5 laid-out pull ups and 5 dips. Second stop is the curb for a Wheel of Merkin with 5 reps at each position. At the bottom of the hill, there is a lovely set of steps waiting on you. Bunnyhop up the set of steps 5 times and then run to the top of the hill. That’s one circuit. Complete the circuit three times and and keep going until the last man finishes his 3rd circuit. I’m happy to report that all Pax continued until the last man finished.
Last but not least, the “Forrest Gump”. Roughly a 250 yd. sprint to the finish, and all Pax were left sucking wind.
COT time where 2 FNG’s were welcomed into the fold (Lego and Wongocat). The morning festivities were closed with a BOM and all were content. Until next time…

  1. Strong work NA. When I lived in Augusta I spent many days around that park balling. Thats a great spot youve got, use it well. The river could be an excellent source of pain and discomfort, where the pax can learn to embrace the suck.
