Give Me One Moment in Time….-Whitney

17 PAX arose from the fartsack on this 27 degree day and took their #DRP. They had the privilege of a biostatistician and a former mathlete Qing today, so they got a dose of numbers and were impacted, beyond their comfort zone. Only 45 (ish) minutes, so off we went, capturing the moments…

Cornstache segment 1: Mosey from the parking lot to behind the trailers.

Pair up for partner work. Each will do the exercise then flap jack.

– P1: lunge walk with cinderblock overhead about 30 yards /P2: Check your wallet (I’m on fire, pszzzz!)

– P1: Deadlift to upright row/P2: Bear crawl out crab walk back.

– P1: Squat with overhead press/P2: crab walk out (other way) sprint back

Jar Jar segment 1: Mosey to pullup bars. Much on-the-fly adjustments to follow, and likely out of order.

P1: 8 pullups, P2:squats until P1 done. Flapjack, then rinse and repeat.

Clock Merkins- 2oclock,4 oclock, 6,8,10,12, around the circle doing Merkins for the hour.

Mosey to blocks

Colt 45’s with partner (15 each bicep curl full rep, lower half, upper half), while partner squats

Clock Dead lift (lateral bends with CMU/block), 10 each side til partner finishes 30yd Inchworm

Cornstache segment 2:

10 merkins in 4-count cadence followed by a sprint and back. PAX had terrible unison, so rinse and repeat. STILL TURRIBLE, so rinse and repeat again!

Timed sets of:

– P1: Merkin with knee to elbow/P2: mountain climbers.

– P1: high/low planks/P2: low country crab.

Again, the partners flip when called.

Jar Jar segment 2:

We did something with blocks, then moseyed back to main field.

P1: 8 pullups, P2:flutterkicks until P1 done. Flapjack, then rinse and repeat.

During this section, the math nerd Q’s required some SIMPLE math problems from the pax. Only 2 of 4 were answered correctly, and one of those required some not-so-covert CHEATING. These required double burpees as payment.

Eg. What is the angle in degrees of the hands on a clock at 1pm? What is the mode of the set 2,3,4,4, 5,7,9,11? What is the cube root of 27?

Clock 12’s- Start in middle, 4 broad jumps out at each hand of the clock, burpees/merkins add together to 12, return via bear crawl to center, around the clock at every other hour. #poorplanning

At this point, I was advised that I had already exceeded my time. DOH! Sorry fellas. Return blocks, back to COT.

Announcements: Q list posted, please advise Silver Bullet ASAP of changes. Need someone to take January 30. April Legion anniversary, August Woodshed anniversary. Bubs and Backdraft Qing this Thursday.

Devotional: Time and Clocks. (yes, I get the irony that I lost track of time on this workout)

Initially, time was told via heavenly movements (sun, stars), but more precision was desired by monks wishing to have specific prayer times. Thus, the mechanical clock was developed, and bells rang the call to prayer accurately (“clocka” is Latin for bells). As precision improved, people distinguished between the God-established times (via sundial or water clocks) and mechanical clocks (thus the expression “O’the clock, or oclock”). Now, we can more effectively serve in His kingdom and obey Ephesians 5:15-16 “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil”.

How are we investing the minutes granted to us? Are we redeeming every moment, or wasting them on foolish endeavors? The clock is ticking on our march to our heavenly home, echoing now not only the stars but the stroke of eternity. So, go capture all your God-given moments today, for His glory!
