YHC noticed the Thunder PAX have been branching out and diversifying the workouts lately. Not being the creative type, YHC decided to take the opposite approach and throw it back to a Thunder staple and YHC’s favorite 5:30 a.m. pastime: running through the streets of Shandon, doing burpees in intersections.
The Thang
Warm-up lap around the track
COP
- SSH x 25 IC
- Merkins x 12 IC
- Squats x 20 IC
Lunge walk the length of the parking lot, then mosey to the intersection of King and Wheat to begin the #BurpeeLoop:
- 10 burpees at the intersection, sprint to King/Wilmot, plank until the six arrives
- 10 burpees, sprint to King/Duncan, plank
- Repeat at Duncan/Woodrow, Woodrow/Wilmot, and Woodrow/Wheat
To give YHC and the PAX a breather:
- Flutters x 26 IC
- Little Arm Circles forward x 10 IC, then backward x 10 IC
Double down on the #BurpeeLoop:
- 10 burpees at King/Wheat, sprint all the way to King/Duncan, flutters until the 6 arrives
- Repeat at King/Duncan, Duncan/Woodrow, and Woodrow/Wheat
- Result: 100 total burpees
Mosey to the planters by the school and begin a new circuit:
- 10 decline merkins, 10 lunges (each leg), 10 incline merkins, 10 jump squats, flutters until everybody is done
- 9 decline merkins, 9 lunges, 9 incline merkins, 9 jump squats, flutters
- Repeat, decreasing by 1 each circuit. The PAX made it down to 5 reps before finishing with 35 flutters and jogging back to the shovel flag
