Battle Gets Personal

Anytime YHC comes around, things tend to get a little up close and personal.  Some say things got borderline inappropriate today.  8 men were led into #Battle today by Misfire and YHC for some fun and a lot of work.

Conditions:  Perfect 58 degrees, overcast, damp, and foggy

The Thang:

First up McNugget:

Grab some long dongs and head over to the practice field between the softball and baseball fields.  Drop your long dongs and circle up.

1) Warm up with 50 burpees OYO.  Everyone seemed to love that.

2)  Partner up at one side of field for “Long Dong” barrows.  Same concept as the traditional wheel barrow except the pax crawling on his hands has to walk with the long dongs.  First time around we did this about 30 yards downfield and switched partners.  Partner two went about 30 yards to the other end of the field.  It was terrible.

3) Next the pax deserved a break from the brutality of the Longdongbarrows and moved onto a round of BLIMPS.  Each pax carried one long dong for this round.  It goes like this:

B- 5 Burpees

L- 10 Lunges each leg advancing downfield

I- 15 Imperial Walkers advancing downfield

M- 20 Merkins

P- 25 Plank Jacks

S- 30 Squats

4) We traveled about 40 yards for BLIMPS.  That gave the pax enough of a break that we decided it would be appropriate for another round of Longdongbarrows.  This time we went about 20 yards and switched partners.  Still terrible.

5) Next up was a round of tire pulls with a set of 21’s using the long dongs.  Partner 1 pulled a tire about 20 yards down and back while partner 2 completed a set of 21’s.  The pax completed two sets of tire pulls and 21’s.

6) YHC wanted to get to a few of my favorite excercises before time was up.  These tend to require a lot of contact with your fellow pax.  First up was a round of The Tunnel of Love.  Always a fan favorite.  Line up side by side in a high plank position.  Last pax in line army crawls through the tunnel.  Next pax follows until everyone is through the tunnel.  Each pax ended up crawling through the tunnel about 5 times in all.

7) Last excerise was a new one for us, but still fun nonetheless.  This one was opposite of Tunnel of Love.  It’s called Bridge of Hate.  Pax line up side by side on their backs.  Pax at end of line gets passed along the top of the bridge, almost like a crowd surf.  The most challenging part was the landing at the end of the line.  We were able to successfully pass three or four pax across the bridge, but the bridge faltered when Robber made his way across.  YHC was glad to call this round a success at that point.

Now it was Misfire’s turn:

Misfire told YHC he would handle the running portion of the workout and he certainly did not disappoint.

1) Mosey over to the bottom of Falcon Drive at Beltline.  Pax execute 100 little baby arm circles forward, 100 LBAC backward and 100 overhead press.  Sprint to next station and repeat excercises.  Pax completed four sprints and four stations of exercises.

2) Once first round completed Pax circled up for 3 count down pushup position hold.  Each pax calls 3 seconds while holding the down position.  3 seconds certainly like a long time when you’re feeling the burn!

3) Next up were some hill suicides next to the Battle Loop.  Start with 5 jump squats, sprint to stop # 1.  5 more jump squats and back to start.  Repeat this three more times to complete the suicide.

4) Once finished with suicides it was time for another round of 3 count down push up hold.  Second round wasn’t any better than the first.

5) Next the Pax started with 100 single count Russian twists and 100 single count flutter kicks.  Sprint to next station and repeat.  YHC may have miscounted the number of stops, but I believe the pax ended up making a total of three stops before it was time to call it a day.
