#Amble Report: Half-Marathon Buckle-Down Looms

9 pax gathered in the gloom at KBC this morning knowing full well they would cover more distance as is customary on Fridays.  They were greeted with a loop featuring several changes in elevation as they traveled through Jackson Heights, on to Heathwood, and back through Lake Katherine.  A twist at the end gave the pax an option of stopping at 4.75 miles or continuing on to 5.5.  This was a nice final tune-up prior to the start of our official (or unofficial) training program for the Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon (11/9).

Conditions: Cooler and slightly less humid

The Thang:

4.75/5.5 mile loop through Jackson Heights, Heathwood, and Lake Katherine. Leaving KBC parking lot, cross Trenholm and turn left onto Chicora.  From there turn right onto Wofford followed by a left onto Converse.  Follow Converse until making a right onto E. Buchanan.  Cross Beltline and continue on W. Buchanan.  Cross Trenholm and continue on Heatherwood before turning right onto Tomaka.  Tomaka merges with Adger where the pax proceed up the Adger hill (waiving to Noodle’s house) before turning left to continue on Adger.  Turn left onto Devereaux and follow across Beltline.  Turn left onto Brennen and then right onto Kilbourne.  Turn left onto Sanford and then right onto Kathwood.  Follow Kathwood up and down the hill until the split point – 4.75 mi pax turned left onto Woodlake, right onto Carterhill, and into the KBC lot.  5.5 mi pax continued on Kathwood until it dead ends into Shady.  Turn left on Shady, left on Heath Hill (acknowledging Chaser’s house), left on Quail Lane, right onto Forest Ridge, and finally a right onto Carterhill until our destination of the KBC lot.

Moleskin:

  • T-Claps to the #Amble pax.  This group has really picked up the pace in recent workouts.  YHC cannot describe how rewarding that is to see.  What were once 8 minute mile + runners are now confidently running sub 8 (and some even sub 7:30) minute mile pace.  #Impressive
