First of many

YHC made a commitment late last year that I’d visit each AO in Lexington at least once and Q at each AO in Lexington at least once. I want to get out and put in work with all of the men that make this the best region in F3 Nation.  So where better to start than the Grandaddy Of Them All…the Mothership…the one and only Graveyard. YHC had been on the Q schedule twice before, but work travel and family sickness squashed both attempts, so I was thrilled that I was able to make it this time, especially when I saw the weather forecast.  So here’s how it went…

Conditions:

63, cloudy, on and off rain showers. Gloomy.

The Thang:

Mosey to the opposite end of the stadium, down the stairs, into what is normally a nice little patch of grass.
20 SSHs
Realize that said patch of grass is now a sloshy mudpit and mosey to the asphalt
1 burpee OYO
20 Windmills
2 burpees OYO
20 TTT
3 burpees OYO
20 Imperial Walkers
4 burpees OYO
20 Big Arm Circle
5 burpees OYO

Mosey to the top of the stairs and grab a Concrete Masonry Unit
Bring your CMU back to the bottom of the stairs for YHC to try an experiment known as the Bucket Brigade
Count off in 1s and 2s, then split up and line up on the stairs
The objective was to take one CMU at the bottom, pass it to your left to the man standing next to you, then run up the stairs behind your team to the end of the line to be ready to accept the CMU, then continue this pattern all the way up and down the stairs. Think of something like this:

But in reality it was probably more like this:

However I’m sure if we kept trying it about 5-6 more times, we’d have gotten the hang of it! #TClaps to the PAX for humoring me and being the guinea pigs for my first attempt at the Bucket Brigade.

Mosey up the stairs and to the track while bringing your CMU along. During this mosey, #Spackle began tossing out new names for YHC in response to the previously mentioned fiasco, which the other PAX happily joined in on. Some were solid (Bar Stool), some were great names for FNGs (Bar Barian), and some were a bit of a stretch (Bar-ometer). Regardless, YHC appreciated the hospitality and welcoming gesture to truly make me feel like a Graveyarder!

Circle up in the first corner
20 4-Count American Hammers with CMU OYO
Cusack Carry your CMU to the other corner
20 BBSU with CMU on chest OYO
Curls for the Girls to the far end of the track
20 Heavy Freddies OYO
Cusack Carry to the next corner
10 Blockees OYO
Curls for the Girls to the starting corner
1 Lap around the track to recover
20 4-Count Mountain Climbers IC
10 Monkey Humpers IC (Always a crowd pleaser)
On your six for Guantanamo while holding your CMU in the air

Mosey back to the stadium to return your CMU to it’s home
Plank for the six
I dread Chedda’s latest obsession with T-Plank Merkins, but one must accept such things to get stronger, so YHC called for the PAX to perform 10 4-Count T-Plank Merkins OYO. They suck as much as I remembered.
Mosey back to the flag for 2.5 minutes of Mary
20 Ray Charles IC
Spackle called for 20 LBCs IC, but the count was lost due to all the #backfarts from the wet ground, as well as the PAX attempts to sabotage the #SpackleCadence, so it was probably around 33 or so all said and done.
Time’s up!

Devo
YHC attempted to find a devo or something that really compelled me to speak this morning, but nothing really stood out to me. But as we were in the gloom together, I realized how happy it made me to be leading this group of men at another AO. Therefore, I decided just to encourage the PAX to take time to get out and visit or especially Q at other AOs to meet their other brothers that are part of this “silly little workout group”. I’ve been participating in F3 for about 1.5 years and there are still plenty of PAX that I’ve never met. I fully believe that having a home AO is important and having that close knit group is really needed, but I would encourage everyone to drop by another AO once every month or two and spend some time in the gloom with others that you may not know. Just that act forms a bond and builds a relationship that only strengthens from there.

Moleskin
I really appreciate the Graveyard PAX coming out to support my first Q there. It’s a great group of guys and really welcomed me with open arms. I encourage everyone to stop by there (especially on a rainy day) and get to know these men. I look forward to planning my next Q at the Mothership!
