“Dice of Discipline” Resurrected at the Graveyard

60 Degrees of beautiful morning gloom!

12 PAX, including YHC, posted (after much unwarranted absence) in the Graveyard morning gloom with clear eyes and sound hearts; determined to not let the infamous Graveyard scare us.  YHC, led the PAX though a cornucopia of dice rolls and “magic-math” to raise heartbeats and a little sweat, but completed the Q with brothers appearing appreciative of the circuitous adventure of blocks, movement drills, and disco-ball lit tunes (much to Spackle’s dislike; the tunes that is #CobainsSpackle).  YHC must confess to flipping over the metal rails while retrieving his block to sustain a goose-egg to the shin, a laceration, and a bruised pride, but the show must go on.  Fortunately, the PAX was waiting out of sight of this graceful proof of the laws of inertia and weighted momentum.  YHC put on his happy face of pain, and stumbled through the rest of the program.  I guess the karma of fart-sack retribution is alive and well at the Graveyard!

COP

Mosey down the steps to the lower field lot to retrieve

  • 1 mosey lap around the field
  • 15 Through the Tunnel (IC)
  • 15 Windmills (IC)
  • 20 Little Arm Circles – 10 forward, 10 backwards (IC)
  • 10 Flutter Kicks (IC)
  • 15 Squats (IC)
  • Indian-mosey around the field for (1) Lap
  • Mosey to the block-pile for each man to retrieve a block and circle at the disco-ball and dice

 “Dice of Discipline”

  • Each man takes his personal block
  • Circle and take turns rolling dice to determine each lifting count.
    • Exercise rotation of Curls, Triceps Extensions, and Chest Presses (OYO) (YHC modified some rounds to Squats)
    • A roll of 6 or less is multiplied by “magic-math”, and a roll of 7 or higher on the is multiplied by “other magic-math” for that set-count rotation (YHC uses magic-math to ensure a number the Q can handle while not disappointing the sugar-rays; it’s quite a balancing act and a slight wave of the hand)
    • Any doubles add (5) Burpees (OYO) to that given set before the lifts start
    • Plank when finished
    • Post plank exercises of (7) Mountain Climbers (IC), and then Plank Jacks (IC) were rotated between each set completion prior to next dice roll.
  • Time allotted allowed each member of the PAX to roll once, with lucky Burpee doubles showing up twice! (YHC often rigs the rolls to ensure the Burpee award occurs often, but YHC avoided this trick this morning.)
  • Totals of all sets:
    • Curl Sets (3) iterations totaling approx. (100)  (OYO) via rotating sets
    • Triceps Extensions Sets (3) iterations totaling approx. (80)  (OYO) via rotating sets
    • Chest Press Sets (3) iterations totaling approx. (100) (OYO) via rotating sets
    • Block Squats (3) iterations totaling approx. (60) (OYO)
  • Movement Drills: Following each 3rd set of block exercises a movement drill is introduced:
    • 1st Movement Drill: OYO mini Jacobs-Ladders with running of the stairs to (5) Squats at the top; return to the bottom of the stairs for (4) squats and continuing up and down stairs until squat rotations are complete.  Return to block circle for next group of block exercises
    • 2nd Movement Drill: Pax lap around the football field
    • 3rd Movement Drill: Omitted this morning to allow each man to complete a block-exercise dice roll

Moleskin:

  • The Q was winded early and often, but it is truly about: #GETTINGBETTERTOGETHER
  • Thankful for COP mumble-chatter as YHC’s bran finally remembered the correct recipe for leading includes an “IC”
  • Amazed by the endurance, encouragement, and commitment of every man represented. Privileged to work with each of these men. Thankful to Bulldog for the EH to Q, and get my accountability back in order.

Devotional:

  • Reading of Hebrews 12:1: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance (patience) the race God has set before us.”
    • YHC shared his M’s gift of this scripture as YHC was upset with himself for his lack of preparedness and accountability for this year’s P200. Special attention to the reality that the Lord does not require us to run the “race” with “perfection” but with patience/endurance. We often hold ourselves, our M’s and 2.0’s to levels of perfection that are not only unachievable but also not required by our Lord.  He agreed to give us the strength we need “though him” to run this race of life.  Discouragement will always be the outcome if we expect perfection from our own human strength, as there was only one ever perfect; our Savior!  Let us rely on his strength and enjoy “his” yoke that is easy and his burden for us is light.
