I know what you’ve been asking yourselves. How does a guy nicknamed “Father of the Bride” celebrate his darling daughters’ birthdays?
By sadistically tormenting his fellow pax with vaguely birthday-related expressions of pain. Duh.
The pax gathered on a chilly March morn to unwittingly celebrate the fifth anniversary of YHC’s middle child’s arrival to this world with generous gifts of ab, arm, and leg work. After a warmup of LBACs, Through the Tunnels, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, and Slow Squats, the pax moseyed to the concession stand.
The Thang:
The pax started out with an odd assortment of exercises.
Monkey Humpers x 25
Overhead Arm Claps x 20
Lunges x 20
LBCs x 25
Yul Bryner (7 merkin types x 7 reps each)
YHC had to search out the last one in the F3 Exercise tome, just to find an exercise that starts with Y. The clever among you will see what I did there. The less clever probably stopped reading this already.
After a brief recovery, the pax assembled at Perfectly Good Hill for five sprints up and down with Big Boys x 20 at the top and American Hammers x 20 at the bottom on each round.
This too was on theme. Five rounds for five years. 200 ab exercises in recognition of the worst stomach flu I have ever experienced which nearly caused me to miss the birth of Moira (Molly) Caroline Traynham, but which mercifully relented in time for a rescheduled induction on 3/19/14. Oh, and I think my wife may have had some stomach pain around that time too.
The birthday celebration continued at the Rockpile with 5^2 reps of 5 exercises, rotating five rocks to the left after each exercise.
Curls x 25, Tricep extensions x 25, Overhead press x 25, Bent over rows x 25, Chest Press x 25
Why 5 squared, you ask? Partly because 5 reps is just pitiful, but also because Molly is “extra.” YHC is informed this is appropriate usage now, without an additional term modified by the word “extra,” and that this expression certainly applies to his middle daughter. YHC has no other thoughts to share about the current direction of the English language, but felt 5-squared reps would also be extra… something.
The pax moseyed up Streeper Hill for pullups and iron crosses before returning to the Shovel Flag for Mary.
Molly would approve. She is also a little sadistic.
