• When: 2019-03-23
  • QIC: Fool's Gold
  • The PAX: Lumbergh, Milkman, Nutmeg, Fool's Gold (QIC)

Go light on the banana pudding

Conditions

Short and sweet here men (just like my ex-girlfriend used to say about me, well, minus the sweet).

Upper 30’s, dry, partly cloudy and waning moon. The Pax were short on numbers (only 3 to begin and 4 later), but high on sweetness.

Disclaimer, Warm Up

After a quick disclaimer, we warmed up with the following:

  • SSH X 10 IC
  • OACs X 10 IC
  • Hillbillies X 10 IC
  • TTT X 10 IC
  • Windmills X 10 IC
  • Mosey to the end of the entrance road and back

As the company of three (Lumbergh, Milkman, and YHC) finished the warm up, we were wondering if this was going to go like an episode of Three’s Company (side note and true fact, YHC didn’t realize Jack Tripper was supposed to be gay in this until he was about 35 #ObservationSkills).

Fortunately as we finished the mosey, Nutmeg appeared out of the gloom.  His timing was fortuitous as Depot was about to erupt into a brawl with the three of us duking it out over who got to play Chrissy (Suzanne Somers).

Or was it do her?  YHC can’t remember. #Thighmaster

We grabbed some blocks and headed to the parking lot for The Thang.

The Thang

In continued celebration and FOMO of the P200 and our brothers who were at this time continuing to pound the SC pavement (with the occasional informative and entertaining vlog thrown in for good measure)…..

Tclaps to Uno for keeping the FOMO level high for us non-P200 folks!

….we did a bit of relay work ourselves.  YHC dubbed it the Milkman (present and accounted for) and STH (not present, not-P200ing, off somewhere gallivanting around and probably up to no good) Relay.  Here’s how the Milkman-STH Relay works:

  • Partner up – Milkman/Lumbergh and Nutmeg/YHC
  • Partner A – Milkman Farmer’s Carry (4 steps regular, 4 steps shoulder shrug, rinse/repeat) the blocks across the parking lot and leave them, run back
  • Partner B does 10 reps of 2 exercises (listed below) awaiting Partner A’s return
  • Partner B runs across, grabs one of the blocks, and Cusacks (STH’s primary move, other is the Southern Strut Suplex) it back while Partner A is doing the exercise.
  • Partner A runs across and retrieves the last block and Cusack’s it back while Partner B is exercising
  • Finally, Partner B Milkman Farmer’s Carry’s the blocks back across, runs back, while Partner A is doing the exercises.
  • Rinse and repeat the above until the total number below exercises are finished:
    • 50 Merkins/Big Boys OYOI
    • 50 Squats/Plank Jacks OYO
    • 50 Flutter Kicks/Iron Crosses OYO

If any of the above is confusing, don’t be alarmed….hell, I was there and I don’t know how to explain it all.

The PAX seemed to really enjoy this, so expect a version of this coming to a Q near you soon.

The second phase of the Q was to circle up (or really square up, as there were 4 of us) and do some block work in cadence:

  • 10 Block Rows IC
  • 10 Curls IC
  • 10 Overheads IC
  • 10 Block Rows IC
  • 10 Curls IC
  • 10 Overheads IC

The third part of the Q was inspired by March Madness, which YHC believes is a special strain of Beaver Fever one is susceptible to when one’s gall bladder is removed (watch out Laettner).

YHC produced an junior sized, underinflated (Blart, you would have loved it) basketball and the PAX moseyed to the basketball court.

The rules were simple (unlike the above relay debauchery):

  • First two to make a free throw on a team
  • Teams compete shooting free throws, whichever team makes the most shots at the end of the round is the winner
  • The winner gets to bear crawl across the width of the basketball court and run back
  • The loser gets to bear crawl across the length of the basketball court and run back
  • No dunking allowed

After a few warm up shots, Lumbergh and YHC were teamed up vs Milkman and Nutmeg.

The three rounds were:

Team Lumbergh/YHC – sweet victory

Draw – all PAX bear crawl across the width of the court and run back

Draw – all PAX bear crawl across the length of the court and back

YHC thought he might perform like this on the court…..

While reality it was a little more like this….

Tclaps to Lumbergh for carrying our team to victory!

Final part of The Thang was the #crowdfavorite Wonderwall.  The goal here is to wall sit for 3:47 while Oasis’ Wonderwall plays.  If you get smoked on the wall, then arm hang from the playground equipment.  If you get smoked from the arm hang then move onto planking.  If you get smoked on the planking, verbally judge the other PAX’ form and/or comment on Q’s taste in music.

For reference, the self-proclaimed “greatest band in the world”:

The Mary’ was dealer’s choice

  • Lumbergh – ~2 minutes of Boat/Canoe
  • Nutmeg – Hello Dollys X 10 IC (YHC thinks)
  • Milkman – Iron Crosses X 10 OYO
  • YHC – LBCs X 15 IC

Time up, we did the COT and BOM.

Moleskin

Major TClaps to Milkman, Lumbergh, and Nutmeg who defied the fartsack (and lack of Handball) on a Saturday for an XL Q.  I’m glad we were able to keep the Depot trains on time while most of the rest of our PAX were running amok in rural SC at the P200.

Last year I ran in my first P200 and missed out on the boot camp exodus that comes for some PAX as they train up to prepare for the event (and to eat copious amounts of BBQ…can a brother get a doggy bag????).

While I do enjoy the intimate nature of 4-5 person boot camps and am grateful for the conversations and camaraderie…..

…..I am also grateful for the extra volume of #mumblechatter that occurs when you have a group of 10 to 20+ PAX.  There are some funny dudes (mostly “ha ha” funny) at Depot (really throughout F3, but especially at Depot) and I’m looking forward to having the lot of y’all back out in the gloom.  Well most of you, the others not so much……

TClaps to all of those who ran the P200 (especially those for the first time) and those who helped hold the fort down in their absence.  #MenOfDepot #Represent
