Jesus appeared to the disciples several times during the week following Easter. One of these visits was over a meal where Jesus asked Peter 3 times if he loved him. Peter of course answered yes each time and Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep.
In my opinion this is one of the most poignant parts of the Easter story. Easter is all about new life, fresh starts, and receiving graces we could never earn or be worthy of. But Jesus offers Peter the ultimate show of grace and forgiveness by giving him a second chance after he denied knowing Jesus three times just a few days earlier.
This is what it’s all about! Just like Jesus promise to the criminal on the cross next to him, we can be forgiven and join Jesus in paradise if we just open our hearts to his love and grace!
