WOW for December 4 – 9

This weeks WOW comes from the godfather of Thunder, Subprime.  Unfortunately, YHC couldn’t make this workout and it’s too bad, cause this was a beauty. Check out the full BB with an excellent devo here, the workout and my thoughts on it are below.

The Thang: Depart COT running under the covered walkway – pause on the side yard.

COP

  • SSH – 25 (4ct)
  • IW – 20 (4ct)
  • LBAC Forward/Backward – 10 (4ct)
  • Squat – 15 (4ct)
  • Merkins – 10 (4ct)
  • Russian Twists – 20 (4ct)
  • Merkins – 10 (4ct)
  • Flutter Kicks – 20 (4ct)

Depart Side Yard running toward front of school on Woodrow

  • Bearcrawl the semi-circle, brick walkway
  • Proceed to the corner of Woodrow and Wheat upon completion of bearcrawls; do SSH while waiting on the 6

Proceed down Wheat St. toward Maple – pause at Maple

  • Burpees – 10 (OYO)

Continue down Wheat turning left onto Holly and left into the St. Johns parking lot

Round 1

  • Suicides  – Run to the 2nd parking line and back
  • Run to the 2nd island and back
  • Run to the sidewalk and back
  • Rinse & Repeat

Round 2

  • Suicides – Bearcrawl to the 2nd parking line and run back
  • Bearcrawl to the 2nd island and run back
  • Bearcrawl to the sidewalk and run back

Round 3

  • Suicides  – Run to the 2nd parking line and back
  • Run to the 2nd island and back
  • Run to the sidewalk and back

Depart St. Johns headed up Holly toward Devine.  Stop at the old Strobler

  • People’s Chair – 60 seconds
  • Balls to the wall – YHC’s count

Cross Devine (carefully) and enter the Henry’s parking lot

  • Circuit – 25 Merkins
  • 20 Tuck Jumps
  • 15 Sky Ups
  • 10 Squats
  • Rinse & Repeat

Proceed up Devine (on the sidewalk) crossing Maple and stopping at the Schneider School Apts

  • Circuit – 25 Merkins
  • 20 Tuck Jumps
  • 15 Sky Ups
  • 10 Squats

Continue up Devine pausing at Burger Tavern 77

  • Circuit – 25 Merkins
  • 20 Tuck Jumps
  • 15 Sky Ups
  • 10 Squats
  • Rinse & Repeat

Cross Devine (carefully) and proceed up Woodrow toward Hand;  pause at the brick wall at the corner of Woodrow and Blossom

  • People’s Chair – 60 seconds

Continue up Woodrow toward Wheat.  Turn right onto Wheat and then AYG back to King to the Shovel Flag

Mary

  • Plank – 90 seconds
  • Flutter Kicks – 20 (4ct)

The Goods: For some reason YHC always loves when a workout goes off campus. There’s something to be said for on-campus workouts as well, but going out into the surrounding area can make things fun.  Especially around Thunder.

It’s the way the moves are put together that makes this a special workout.  Take the Merkin, Tuck Jumps, Sky Ups, Squat sequence that was done 4 times. All hard moves done at exactly the right time in the workout (about 25-30 minutes in). One time of that is hard.  Subby works in some running in-between to lighten the load, but that part was nasty.
