The Four Year Thunderversary

Four years ago Thunder launched its first workout with 20 pax in attendance (see the full BB here).  Initially lead by Subprime, Thunder has since been lead by McLovin, Paperboy, Shamu, and now by Beads. While Thunder is on it’s 5th AOQ it’s still going strong as one of the most popular weekday bootcamps in F3 Columbia.  YHC was honored to lead the four year anniversary of this great AO.  38 pax came along for the ride.

Conditions: 70 and bearable.

The Thang: Run down to Emily, get whatever blocks we had and line up for a warm-up of 20 SSH, 10 Squats, 10 merkins, and 10 LBC’s all in Cadence.

Time to get things rolling with some partner work.

  • Partner 1: deadlift, curl, shoulder press with block x 10, then tuck jumps x 10.  Rinse/repeat till partner 2 returns.
  • Partner 2: bear crawl to end of Emily and back.

AMRAP for ~ 5 minutes.  Then, some more partner work:

  • Partner 1: hop merkins on blocks x 10, then BBS x 10.  Rinse/repeat till partner 2 returns.
  • Partner 2: crab walk to the end of Emily and back.  Feet first out, head first back.

AMRAP for ~ 5 minutes.  Then, time to honor some of the Thunder AOQ’s:

  • Partner 1: Sprint to the Amphitheater, 10 decline merkins, sprint back to blocks (sprints in honor of Shamu, decline merkins in honor of Beeds)
  • Partner 2: Box jump burpees (in honor of Paperboy) till partner 2 returns.

Put the blocks up, and run to King Street.

When the pax got up to King Street then noticed about 15 or so guys doing merkins at the corner of King and Blossom….. with F3 shirts on.  Upon closer inspection Fountainhead (the Brickpile Q today) brought the Brickpile pax down to join us.  This was perfect timing (and unplanned).

Now the 60 or so pax filled King Street for a Burpee, Monkey Humper ladder (in honor of McLovin).  Running up and down King required some maneuvering with so many people on it.  The people and cars that went by definitely did a bit more staring then usual.

Pax ran back to the flag for a little Mary.

  • 33 Russian twists (in honor of Subprime).
  • 20 flutter kicks
  • 20 Hello Dolly’s (Subby’s actual favorite exercise).

Then we finished with 2 8-count burpees called by Paper Boy.

COT and BOM by YHC.

Moleskin:

  • There was a great showing by all AO’s today, and Brickpile stopping by for a bit was the icing on the cake.
  • TClaps for the Legion crew who ran over #CSAUP.
  • Nice Devo from Subprime talking about the early days of Thunder, Brickpile and F3 Columbia.  F3 was a great thing then and a great thing now.  We still need to give it away.
