#Scramble to Lonsford

This being YHC’s first F3Midlands Backblasts the following is nearly a week out of date.  Technology is a mean booger.  BUT, in spite of the delay, the hillwork of August 7th is still fresh as a daisy in the mind.  It was like this:

Conditions:  Mostly pleasant… but for the typical August mug to the air

TheThang:

Hillwork was on tap.  From Trenholm Plaza, the pax exited onto Trenholm in the usual fashion headed into town for the quick downhill slide to the bend at Clemson where the Lonsford Hill came quickly into view.  Lonsford is a racetrack hill with a well landscaped median on the most steady of grades.  The standard route called for four trips to the top and the resulting four trips back down.  Some, the speedy few who were ahead of me for example, took on a fifth climb up Lonsford before turning back again on Trenholm for the return trek.  Initially, the route was supposed to be 3.5 miles but it was discovered, through the vagaries of Strava, that it took all five trips up the hill to match that 3.5 mile distance.  Hills and speed.  A good morning workout.

COT & BOM

NMM:

YHC’s been on the DL for nearly a month with a left foot injury and a bout with a pinched nerve in the ankle.  Mercifully, the foot and ankle held up for the full out and back.  Special thanks to the guys who post for the rest of us who can’t always post in the gloom.

Quick announcement and reminder that the Give-To-Give campaign is going on through August.  Right now there’s a really sweet american flag up for raffle.  Next up, a GORUCK package of gear.  It’s going to be a sweet month.

Keep your eyes open for the CheechStrong 10K in Lexington coming up.  It would be fantastic to see a host of F3Columbia men cross the river for the event.
