Run clinic review session

10 PAX chose to start their week out with a 4 mile out n’ back down the Chimney Hill route…YHC’s home course.

Conditions: 50ish…not nearly as cold as YHC planned for.

Disclaimer: I am not a running professional, but I did go to Stretch’s run clinic on Saturday, and followed up with some youtube instructional videos…so I gotta be pretty close right? If only I had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Prior to the run, YHC decided to take on the task of hitting a few of the main points from Stretch’s run clinic (Pose, fall forward, pull, and the forefoot strike). We followed that with a 1 minute run around the track to give everyone a baseline for what their step cadence is (Stretch says shoot for 180). After that, YHC took the run clinic one step further by discussing some of the similarities I have found between breathing properly as a musician and a runner (the importance of belly breathing), and the benefits of breathing to a step cadence. Finally, after way too much talking, we got to the route…

Right out of AO onto Olde Knight, right on Galway, right on Saye Cut, left on Old Woodlands, left on Hampton Trace, right on Chimney Hill, Chimney Hill till it runs out, around the cul-de-sac and come back the way we came.

COT and BOM led by Kenny G
