Poker at 5:15, Nonsense

YHC is introducing a slightly modified structure to Legion. We have our traditional Monthly Murph, Convergence  with Woodshed, and regular Q rotation. Now we have added in AOQ Day to kick-start each month at the proper pace. Then we end the month with Guest Q day to welcome in travelers from distant AOs, and Poker Day to add in completely unpredictable pain for the Pax.

Today was the first Poker Day and YHC needed to be sure that we didn’t quickly run through the deck. Perfect opportunity to throw in a few difficult maneuvers and something new from the “Exicon”.

Conditions:

58 and clear (quickly started to feel like 80 after the cards were dealt).

The Thang:

Run halfway to tennis courts and stop for PT warm-up

• High Knees-25IC
• Butt Kicks-25 IC
• Freddy Mercuries-25 IC
• Imperial Walkers-25 IC

Run to Tennis Court (warmly lighted and prepped with written instructions for the Pax)

The Game

• YHC flipped top card on deck and announced to Pax
•  Suits:
  • Hearts= Bobby Hurleys
    • Deep squat, slap the ground like a Duke basketball player, then explode up with a virtual jump shot and follow through
  • Diamonds= Burpees
  • Spades= Around the World Merkins
    • 1 Merkin at 12:00, rotate around to 3:00
    • 1 Merkin at 3:00, rotate around to 6:00
    • 1 Merkin at 6:00, rotate around to 9:00
    • 1-Merkin at 9:00, rotate around to 12:00
    • Completion of the clock = count of 1!
  • Clubs=Bear Crawl to Midcourt, Crabwalk back= count of 1

• Card Values:
  • Card Values represent the exercise count
  • Face Card Value=10
  • Aces=YHC called out random Pax to choose count of 1 or 11
  • Jokers (2 in deck) = 5 count of all 4 suits

At 4 minutes remaining-run back to COT and complete Flutter Kicks until time is up.

The deck appeared to be mysteriously shuffled with all of the larger numbers toward the front. A few cards remained as time expired. Not getting thorough the deck displayed evidence that the selected exercise were more than sufficient to dish out a high quality of suck.
