Hammer Victory(s)

The past few days have shined a light on the work that is done every Tuesday and Thursday at Hammer. Recent examples include Splinter, Turtle and Myrtle displaying excellent all around fitness at the Mud Run this past weekend bringing home the Busted Paw trophy to Columbia for the first time ever; Garnish placing 3rd in his age group at the Ray Tanner 12k with a blistering 6:57 pace overall; and recent reports from Fort Jackson that Flamer was identified as the Soldier of the Cycle during his boot camp experience. While these represent only a portion of the individual and team successes Hammer PAX have achieved recently, they bring attention to the hard work that is put in every day at Hammer where no matter who has the Q, there is no easy day. So today the Pax honored these successes.

Moleskin: Always a pleasure leading this PAX, and getting creative with the workout. Great discussion in COT about what Hammer is and how we can continue to grow our AO. Knowing who we are and who we intend to be is important when EH’ing FNGs to join us. Hammer can be intimidating and difficult for an FNG to just walk in to without some preparation. It is a good reminder that the Q may need to alter his plans on occasion to keep the FNG engaged and not feeling left behind. But we also need to remember not to water down our workouts, Hammer is hard work and it is because we push ourselves every day that our PAX are able to physically, mentally and spiritually accomplish what they have.

  1. Word from Fort Jackson is that Flamer was given a new name at boot camp….his piers now call him Captain America!!!
