A little bit of this, a little bit of that

POSTED by PJ on BAMBI’s BEHALF

6 of Ambush’s finest came out to join YHC for some good ole fashioned betterment. The gloom didn’t seem so gloomy this am. Everybody clocked in & we went straight to work. Below is how things unfolded.

Conditions: felt nice to me – a little soggy, perhaps

1 min warning/Disclaimer that YHC is the LEAST professional one in the whole bunch/Prayed it up/Punched the clock & went to work.

** (Sgt.) Slaughter Starter – 30 burpees OYO off the drop **

Mosey to center of football field & circle up.

SSH x20 (IC) – 5 burpees OYO

TTT x15 (IC)

Imperial Walkers x15 (IC) – 10 burpees OYO (b/c YHC forgot to call 5 after TTT – apologies, it’s been a while, men).

THE SQUAT x15 (IC) – 5 burpees OYO

Recover

THE THANG:

Native American Run to Squatter’s Hill (last PAX does 2 burpees, then sprints to front of line) – the PAX attempted some backerds running for about 1.5 minutes, then decided that was stupid, so reverted back to the regular way.

Clock Merkins OYO (crowd pleaser) – each PAX starts at the 12:00 position/number on theoretical clock & performs 12 perfect/proper form merkins…..then they reposition themselves to the 11:00 position/number & do 11 merkins….then 10, 9, 8 & so forth & so on, all the way down to 1 (1:00 position) merkin.

Recover – Native American Run to the hexagon & each PAX selected their favorite bench.

20 step-ups (each leg), so I guess that’s 40 step-ups a pop – b/c #mathishard for YHC

10 decline merkins (IC)

Then sprint around hexagon twice.

Go back to favorite bench & R/R – think we may have only done 5 decline merkins (IC) this time (sorry, it’s all starting to get a li’l foggy at this point).

Recover

Mosey to block pile & each PAX grabs their favorite & most special block.

Mosey to sideline of football field w/ block in tow.

Angrily toss said block onto ground – mumblechatter was beginning to increase in strength at this point during the workout.

Partner up – wheelbarrel your partner to opposite sideline, then switch it up & wheelbarrel partner back to original sideline (so each PAX had the pleasure of putting their hands on the ground and playing the role of the wheelbarrel).

Since we had 7 PAX, one PAX was odd man out (no partner) and bear crawled to opposite sideline & back.

Recover

Each PAX grab their block & block-bear crawl to opposite sideline.

5 burpees

Recover

Native American run around track (almost 1 full lap) w/ block in tow, and drop blocks off at block pile – bye blocks, we will miss you.

Mosey back to flag for some MARY – oops, sorry, we’re 47 minutes in to the workout – ball game (again, apologies, it’s been a while, so YHC was still trying to shake the rust off).

Done!

T-claps to those (not sure who all did, sorry fellas, but you still get extra credit as far as I’m concerned) who posted this am for SL and/or RL and/or BL (Bycycle Lite?) – also T-claps to Sawdust for ‘allegedly’ posting for SL (I didn’t see him, but I’m taking the PAX’ word for it – JK, good work, Sawdust)

No devo read aloud, but I have one from my trusty little hot pink Duck Commander devotional that my little girl gave me (she felt pink was the color I needed) – please see below inspiration:

February 6 – ‘The DNA of True Life’ – from Uncle Si:

If we claim to have fellowship with Him, and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin”……1 John 1:6-7

One day I had to give blood to check & see if I had a hereditary illness. After the doctor reviewed the test results, he actually showed me my DNA. There were to strands: my mother’s & my father’s. After checking them all, he said I was clear of the disease. Of course I was relieved, but I told that doc that he was one strand shy. “That’s crazy!” he said. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” But I said, “You are the crazy one, Jack!” There’s one more strand in there, and it’s the most important one of all!” I told him the strand he was missing was the blood of Jesus Christ, b/c that was part of my DNA, as well. I don’t know if I convinced him or not, but it’s the truth!……Uncle Si

Si’s prayer is as follows:

“Heavenly Father, we are grateful for the blood of Your son that gives us life. We walk in the light, & we love each other b/c it’s in our blood. Thank you for dying for us & saving us – Amen.”

For me personally, it’s easy for me to forget (& I do it often) that I am made up of much more than my human DNA, flesh & blood, & bones. Scripture tells us pretty plainly that God breathed us into life, from His own breath, & even created us in His own image. That’s pretty astounding & awesome to think of. I grew up without a father in my life. I never even really knew the man. The last time I ever saw him, I think I was probably around 5 or 6 years old (about the age of my oldest son today). I’ve often wondered about his DNA, and mine, as they relate to each other. I’ve wondered about whether or not we have the same physical traits, and what (if anything) he may have passed on to me from his body. I guess I may never know. But something really wonderful that I’ve come to realize through scripture in my adult life, is that it doesn’t really matter what traits (DNA) I did, or didn’t, get from him. The bible tells us that we are adopted as sons of God, through the work that Jesus did on that cross for us – via our faith in Him & the unconditional love & mercy, through His grace, that our Father shows us each step of our entire life here on this planet. Adopted……Sons…..of God, Himself! I think Uncle Si is correct. That 3rd DNA strand – the one that doesn’t show up on all the fancy medical charts – that’s the one that counts the most. And it’s also (for me anyway), the one I tend to forget about the most, as well. It’s a certainty that this old life will cut you down sometimes, bring you to the brink, & even past it in some cases. So when I think of my father, & all those things I’ll never know about him, it comforts me to remember, & have faith in the FACT, that we do, indeed, possess that 3rd DNA strand – from the blood that our savior poured out on that old cross for us – that gives us strength that we don’t even know we have….& that will eventually save us from all this sin & trespass….and one day, even from the grave, itself. Thank you, Father God, for adopting us into your family & making us Your sons, & for loving us the way that you do. Thank you for always keeping your promises to us & for never abandoning us, even when you probably should have. And thank you SO MUCH for that beautiful salvation that you gifted to us, through the blood of Your son, our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ…..Bambi
