Workout of the week for July 31 – August 5

The Faithrunner, as he is known, attempted to complete his incredible feet today.  His real name is Samir Singh and he is a 44-year-old ultra-marathoner who put out the bold goal of running a 100K (62mi) every day for 100 days.  All together the 6200 miles are enough to run from New York City to Los Angeles and back….. in 100 days.  During his runs he had a GPS watch, a small cell phone and about 3$ per day.  After every run he ate a meal of rice and spicy lentils. Through rain, monsoons, heat and everything else that a summer in Mumbai has to offer, he did his job for 99 days.  99 days, 99 100K runs.

Today was the last day.  Unfortunately, the Faithrunner suffered stomach problems and viral fever and collapsed 36km before the finish line.  Overall he completed 9,964.19 kms in 100 days, and while he didn’t quite reach his goal he showed us the incredible things that humans are capable of.  If he can do that everyday, we can all shoot for a lot more then our “normal”.

This week was a tough one to pick the WOW.  A lot of good candidates with the Nantan putting in a beating at the Brickpile and a Murph at Sampfox.  In the end, the WOW goes to Turnpike’s Q at this past weeks Castle (aka 902AO). For the full BB see https://www.f3midlands.com/columbia-sc/deck-of-pain-v2-thecastle.

The goods: the shining part of this workout is the variety. During the main portion of the workout not one exercise was repeated.  YHC doesn’t even know what some of these exercises are…. Bernie Sanders? Hee-Haws?  When you you cross the moat into 902AO, which YHC has yet to do, you need to learn their language.

Another aspect of the workout is the structure.  It has a nice warm up, a little fun worked in with the cards, a tough middle and a nice finish.  All around job well done.  #TClaps Turnpike!
