Segment Hunting at Scramble

YHC was reflecting on a recent conversation with Columbia region Nantan Fountainhead when planning today’s route. Post P-200 we were discussing injury rates and their correlation with training vs just running all out everyday. Today offered an opportunity to put theory into practice and not just run, but actually train on the route. Here’s what happened:

Conditions: 48 degrees and clear, perfect training weather

The Thang:

Turn left out of Trenholm Plaza onto Trenholm for .75 miles
Turn right onto Clemson for 1 mile
Turn around at Forest drive and continue down Trenholm for 1 mile
Repeat Clemson Rd for 1 mile
Turn right onto Forest and return to COT .5 miles

Instructions were to warm up on Trenholm, go hard up Clemson, recover down Clemson, go hard up Clemson, recover down Forest Dr.

COT

Moleskin:

The best emails and tweets always come when a Course Record has been claimed on strava, especially when the previous record holder was soundly resting on the morning in question. YHC was halfway to work when he got the screenshot/message from Turtle telling him “Oh, it’s on now” after besting his strava segment by a mere second. I have a feeling Clemson Rd will see a few more trips in the coming days/weeks.

Also, good to hear that Gaston’s father is recovering well from his motorcycle accident last week. At 75 years young, that is truly a blessing
