#Brickpile on Hand

#Brickpile, the original F3Columbia AO, started spinning out expansion AO’s a little over four years ago.  First to launch were #Amble and #SwampFox but #Brickpile was so successful that those splits weren’t enough and a true, Shandon neighborhood AO was in need.  #Thunder was therefore launched taking its name from the nearby Fire Station 9.   This being #Thunder’s 4 year anniversary of that launch, the originals felt it important to be on Hand.

Conditions:  So perfect.

TheThang:

The quick pace out of the DHS parking lot was almost immediately squashed by unusually high traffic on Millwood so, rather than stand around, the pax did a quick 5 count of Side Straddle Hops on the near side and then a handful more on the opposite to allow the #Faithful to safely head out for real on Devine.

COP#1 and Circuit Du Jour in the Egg’s Up Parking Lot:

  • 4 Burpees, OYO
  • 8 Jump Squats, OYO
  • 16 Mercans, OYO
  • 32 LBCs, OYO

That accomplished, we proceeded down Devine to a little lot for Just the Thang:

  • 4 Burpees, OYO
  • 8 Jump Squats, OYO
  • 16 Mercans, OYO
  • 32 LBCs, OYO

Expecting the Thunder Pax to be a little hard to find, the crew headed on to King Street for a left turn and then a quick form up at Blossom… which is just when the #Thunder crew started appearing from Emily Douglas.  Spotting the men we came to visit, YHC turned the Q over to Cornstache who was already nearly 30 minutes into their workout.  He led a McLovin special on King:

  • 10 Monkey Humpers at the top of King
  • 2 Burpees at the bottom
  • 8 Monkey Humpers at the top of King
  • 4 Burpees at the bottom
  • 6 Monkey Humpers at the top of King
  • 6 Burpees at the bottom
  • 4 Monkey Humpers at the top of King
  • 8 Burpees at the bottom
  • 2 Monkey Humpers at the top of King
  • 10 Burpees at the bottom

Having said our hello’s and well wishes to the many men heading up and down the hill, the #Brickpile guys split off again heading back on King toward Devine.  Hooking right and into the Shandon Pres parking lot, the original circuit was taken up again:

  • 4 Burpees, OYO
  • 8 Jump Squats, OYO
  • 16 Mercans, OYO
  • 32 LBCs, OYO

That set repeated, we proceeded up Devine back to the parking lot for Just the Thang AND again at Eggs Up Grill… AND again at the office parking lot on the corner of Devine and Amherst.  That’s two sets going but four sets on the way back.  Lots of flutters and protractors thrown in as well.

With time ticking down, we repeated the overly complicated crossing of Millwood at the Dunkin Donuts and wrapped up the morning with:

  • Squats X 24, 4CT IC
  • Mercans X 12, 4CT IC
  • LBCs X 24, 4CT IC

All exercises were in multiples of 4, a mathematical, though forced, nod to the 4 year birthday celebrated by the #Thunder Pax.

  • Quick welcome to Muggsy hailing originally from F3Lexington but who just started at USC and is switching his F3 membership to the one and only F3Columbia.  As this young (Hate, Hate, Hate kind of young) man gets plugged in, make an effort to be welcoming.
