Cool Weather, Cool Dudes, Cool Fun

YHC expected a light crowd and was not disappointed. The Gauntlet has brought out the finest of men and the Shank pax travel well. That being said, the pax that did post got a little better, sweated a bit, and had more fun than 3 dudes in the dark should have on a weekday.

It was a lonely run during the stride lite time, but a run that was blessed by a cool breeze from the northeast. What a start to the day. Stars brightly shone, constellations easily identified, and one noisy dog on Gibson.

The pax pulled in with plenty of time to spare.

The pax that posted were in for a treat. Since it is close to Halloween, a treat was in order. What do Shawshank pax love and adore? Pull-ups and burpees. Why not mix the two and deliver a workout that is guaranteed to bring much enjoyment to all who partake. Personally, I did not enjoy it but Coon Dog and Garth really got into it. There was laughter, tears of joy, grunts of manhood, groans of satisfaction, and the all around sense these guys could run for Co-Mayors of Studsville. Way to go, fellas.

1 minute warning, disclaimer, no FNG’s, opening prayer.

Mosey to the picnic shelter across the street and triangle up.

5 pull-ups, 15 merkins, 15 squats, 15 monkey crunches. Run approximately 50 yards. 5 burpees. Run back.

Rinse and repeat 10 times. Awesome work by these men.

Marriages.

Closing prayer.

Devo: Stole this from Friday’s devo by Key Chain. One of the lessons he share about Noah and the Ark stuck with me. The Ark was built by amateurs, the Titanic by professionals. It is important to keep our trust in the Lord and not in men.
