Celebrating 43 Years of Life with Shawshank

YHC was blessed to spend the morning of his birthday with his brothers at Shawshank.  These guys mumble chattered a little, but the bear crawls, and counting, prohibited this a little.  Lego pointed out that my opening prayer sounded like a speech from our current President, which was pretty hilarious.  I was able to point out that it also resembled something that Lego would place on our message board too.  Ken Doll did get in a good jab at the end telling me that my workout was fine, but he hates my face.  He said my tone was mean instead of hating my face, but we all knew what he meant.  There are a few other ways to spend your morning, but being with these men today shows me just how much God is at work in my life.  I’m thankful for that every day.

Here’s how it went today:

Devo:

Lego wanted to speak on miracles for the Devo today.  He spoke about how in ancient times, God performed miracles and spoke directly to people.  Biblical scholars have all kinds of reasons why this happened then and not now, but if we look closely we CAN see miracles today.  Lego witnessed this with his father-in-law recently who had a stroke.  He had to have a stint placed in his brain stem because of calcium build up there.  The doctors gave Lego’s FIL very slim chances of survival.  After a lot of prayers and medicine, the calcium build up that caused the stroke is completely gone.  That slim chance of survival isn’t so slim now.

Did the medicine do this?  Was it Prayer?  Was it just dumb luck?  Or was it a miracle?  God does perform miracles still, and we don’t have to look that hard for them.  Those who have seen a baby be born know what I mean. On the other hand, sometimes something punches us in the face and we still can’t see it.  Keep your eyes peeled for the miracles in your life, they do exist.
