R2D2 was the QIC for my 1st post 9 years ago. Before the workout, he read Isaiah 40:31: “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” This verse was to be the theme of the workout.
I was ill-equipped for the next hour. I was out of shape and not prepared for the frozen tundra of Ballentine Park aka Depot. It was 28 degrees. The fields were frozen. I couldn’t feel my hands for 58 minutes of the hour long bootcamp. I didn’t think I’d ever return but 2 things stayed with me as I drove home and for the next several days: 1) coffeteria was cool…I enjoyed the fellowship (plus the warm coffee mug on my slowly thawing hands), 2) the Biblically themed workout spoke to me. It was something I didn’t realize I needed.
I have always been a believer, but I can’t honestly say I had a relationship with Christ. I was probably like many Christian men. I felt my job was done by making sure my family went to church and tithing semi-appropriately. Boxes checked.
Then, the dynamite of F3 happened…
I became increasingly inspired by the QICS that always prayed pre-workout and ended with a devo. For my Qs, I read scripture more to make sure I had a devo. Through reading more, I wanted to understand more. Through wanting to understand more, I developed a relationship with Christ.
Though still very much a work in progress, I like to think there are dozens of men in F3 Lexington with a similar story as mine. For that, I am very grateful for the F3 men before me that became my examples.
